Our rich Greek heritage in the natural sponge industry dates back to the early 1900’s in our home town of Tarpon Springs Florida, affectionately known as Sponge Capitol of the world. Greek immigrants, experts in the art of diving brought their trade and families to Tarpon Springs to create a new industry and life. The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico are known to provide the highest quality natural sponges. Sponge harvesting remains virtually unchanged for over 100 years. Divers cut natural sponges from the sea floor and auction their catch when they return from sea.

Natural Sponges come in all shapes and sizes. There are many species and applications for natural sponges. We purchase only the finest quality Sea Wool and Yellow Sea Sponges for personal care. Sponges that do not meet our stringent criteria are sold for industrial and painting purposes.

I enjoyed an extremely successful career in the professional beauty industry. When I settled down I wanted to continue the luxury spa experiences I had around the world. So, I created Spa Destinations; “Creating the At-Home Spa Experience” to bring them home.

Our journey began when Greek immigrants settled in our home town of Tarpon Springs, Florida in the early 1900's to create a thriving natural sponge industry.
